A fascinating 1844 Great Britain entire bearing a 1d Red imperforate (letters KF), enclosing an extensively cross-written family letter headed Lauriston House, Cheltenham and dated 3rd March 1844. Addressed to John Shillaber at Dixon, Illinois, USA, the letter travelled by steamship via Liverpool before crossing the Atlantic and bears a manuscript "Steamer" endorsement together with evidence of redirection and American transit markings before reaching its final d
